Contemporary Steam Locomotives

Here's a side view of the 2719, showing her gleaming black paint and the valve gear of the large 75-inch drivers. At speed, the 2719 cuts a striking pose, and is capable of making very high speeds. But for the moment, she is at rest as the passengers on this special excursion are allowed a moment to stretch and inspect today's grand dame of the rails, while the crew provides necessary services and adjustments. The route traveled on this excursion was once part of the original Wisconsin Central's main line to Chicago, and it continues in importance today for Canadian National's Wisconsin Central subsidiary.
