Preserved Soo Line Steam Locomotives

Here's the 2719 during the early days of her restoration to operation in 1996. The early work was done on-site in Carson Park, which enabled the public to observe much of the undertaking. Later, the engine was moved to a roundhouse in nearby Altoona, where she rests today, so that the heavy work could be completed (and so that the restoration crew wouldn't have to endure Wisconsin winter weather at the same time!). It's hard to believe, looking at this, how far the 2719 had come, and how far it eventually would go.
