Soo 6608 East, Twin Cities
The Soo Line has always been known as a grain carrier and
today grain trains are still pulled by Soo power. On this August 1996
morning a loaded grain train is arriving in the Twin Cities with Soo SD40-2
#6608 on the point. The location of the photo is near the site of
the Soo's Shoreham Yard, which today is only used as an intermodal terminal.
The 6608 was part of the Soo's 12-unit order of SD40-2s that arrived in
May 1980. The unit, like most Soo units, was not delivered with dynamic
brakes. They were added in 1990.
