The Soo did not acquire many GP40s, instead deciding on the SD40. They did have four units before the Milwaukee Road merger, and now the CP has several on the roster. On June 26, 1997, one of the original Soo GP40s arrives at the Shoreham Intermodal Ramp at 8:40 A.M. with the daily Sprint from Chicago. The second GP40 is an ex-MILW GP40 that has been repainted in the CPRS dual-flags scheme. The GP40s are putting their train away, as the Minneapolis skyline watches in the distance.
