Soo 405 West, Twin Cities
Soo 405 and 1400 are the power for the CP Southtown Transfer
on August 26, 1997. The lead unit, a GP9, was repainted by Shoreham
in recent years. The Southtown Transfer originated at the ex-MILW
yard in South Minneapolis. It is passing the site of the Soo's Shoreham
Yard, on its' way to Humboldt Yard. This shot taken at 8:50 A.M. clearly
shows the skyline of Minneapolis, and part of BNSF's Northtown Yard can
also be seen. The CP no longer switches the South Minneapolis Yard,
as the Minnesota Commercial RR works the elevators there now; the CP Southtown
Transfer no longer runs.
