Diesel Locomotives, 1986-1990

Immediately following the Milwaukee Road merger, it was not uncommon to see the Milwaukee's orange-and-black units mixed in with Soo's red-and-white locomotives. It was not until later that the "bandit" or "pumpkin" scheme came along, where the Milwaukee markings were painted over with flat black paint. Here we see Soo SD40 742, two ex-Milwaukee sisters, and a fourth unit leading a train out of the Shoreham Yard in Minneapolis on a cold January 24, 1987.
