Diesel Locomotives, 1986-1990

Soo Line SD40A 6409, originally Illinois Central Gulf 6022 and acquired from Helm Leasing, is seen at rest between assignments at St. Paul Yard on April 5, 1989. The SD40As were often used on long-distance runs mated with the Soo's four fuel tenders, especially when refueling could be a problem due to lack of facilities or price (though the prices of 1989 were better than in 2006!). It appears that the 6409 could definitely use a trip through the wash rack, though.
