Diesel Locomotives, 1940-1969
Almost a decade after the Soo-WC-DSS&A merger, one would
have thought that the "new" Soo Line would have already repainted
all the locomotives to the new red and white paint scheme designed by Wally
Abbey. But, that was not the case, as Soo Line 2106, an ALCO S2 built in
the early 1940s, still bears the original black and gold paint on this early
spring day at Neenah, Wisconsin in early 1969. Note there is still snow
on the ground; spring can sometimes come late to this part of the country!
