Railroad Depot Photos

Another view of the Thief River Falls depot, from the Highway 59 entrance. The Soo Line tracks are on the right, and parking is on the left. This depot, and the Soo depot in Minot, North Dakota, were designed by Minneapolis architect William Kenyon, and are (to my knowledge) the only professionally-designed structures on the railroad. (Exceptions might include the Wisconsin Central depots in Ashland, WI and Duluth, MN, but those are technically WC depots, used by Soo after 1909). The modern green-metal roof replaces the original copper roof, but was designed to copy the original closely. From my own perspective, the structure has been nicely preserved by the City of Thief River Falls, with only some modifications inside to accommodate modern office needs.
