Railroad Depot Photos
This depot sits along the Burlington Northern Santa Fe's Chicago-Twin
Cities main line at the town of Rochelle, IL (famous for their Railroad
Park). Most likely built by BNSF predecesor Chicago, Burlington and Quincy,
the modern railroad uses it for offices and, mainly, as a base for local
Maintenance of Way employees. For those interested in visiting Rochelle,
it is conveniently located at the crossing of Interstates 39 and 88 in north-central
Illinois, about two hours west of Chicago and a half-hour south of Rockford.
(The train-watching is great, by the way!).
