Railroad Depot Photos

Like the Illinois Central depot in Rockford, IL, this depot too has been touched by fire. Originally built for the Wisconsin Central and Northern Pacific in Ashland, WI, in later years (after the railroads departed) it fell into disrepair before being converted to offices and an excellent restaurant and microbrewery. Sadly, though, fire touched the depot in 2000 and destroyed much of it, but efforts are underway to restore this magnificent structure to its' pre-fire days. (For more information, click here). As a side note, preserved Soo Line 2-10-0 #950, once the world's largest locomotive, is displayed on the grounds.
